MIGRAINES  Management

"If you want different results, you might want to try a different strategy!", says the saying.

Here is the singular perspective that has lit my way to healing.
Every function of what is going on in my body, has a mechanical aspect. Voice, hearing, mastication, swallowing, digestion (stomach and intestines), breathing, blood pressure, blood flow, osmosis in kidneys, peristalsis, etc.

What is MIGRAINES?
Note that these informations is carried by all Medical Based organizations; researches and studies.

Overview
A migraine can cause severe throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on one side of the head. It's often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound. Migraine attacks can last for hours to days, and the pain can be so severe that it interferes with your daily activities.
For some people, a warning symptom known as an aura occurs before or with the headache. An aura can include visual disturbances, such as flashes of light or blind spots, or other disturbances, such as tingling on one side of the face or in an arm or leg and difficulty speaking.
Medication can help prevent some migraines and make them less painful. The right medicines, combined with self-help remedies and lifestyle changes, might help.

Symptoms
Migraines, which often begin in childhood, adolescence or early adulthood, can progress through four stages: prodrome, aura, attack and post-drome. Not everyone who has migraines goes through all stages.

Prodrome
One or two days before a migraine, you might notice subtle changes that warn of an upcoming migraine, including:

Constipation
Mood changes, from depression to euphoria
Food cravings
Neck stiffness
Increased thirst and urination
Frequent yawning

Aura
For some people, aura might occur before or during migraines. Auras are reversible symptoms of the nervous system. They're usually visual, but can also include other disturbances. Each symptom usually begins gradually, builds up over several minutes and lasts for 20 to 60 minutes.

Examples of migraine aura include:
Visual phenomena, such as seeing various shapes, bright spots or flashes of light
Vision loss
Pins and needles sensations in an arm or leg
Weakness or numbness in the face or one side of the body
Difficulty speaking
Hearing noises or music
Uncontrollable jerking or other movements

Attack
A migraine usually lasts from four to 72 hours if untreated. How often migraines occur varies from person to person. Migraines might occur rarely or strike several times a month.

During a migraine, you might have:
Pain usually on one side of your head, but often on both sides
Pain that throbs or pulses
Sensitivity to light, sound, and sometimes smell and touch
Nausea and vomiting
Post-drome
After a migraine attack, you might feel drained, confused and washed out for up to a day. Some people report feeling elated. Sudden head movement might bring on the pain again briefly.

When to see a doctor
Migraines are often undiagnosed and untreated. If you regularly have signs and symptoms of migraine, keep a record of your attacks and how you treated them. Then make an appointment with your doctor to discuss your headaches.

Even if you have a history of headaches, see your doctor if the pattern changes or your headaches suddenly feel different.

See your doctor immediately or go to the emergency room if you have any of the following signs and symptoms, which could indicate a more serious medical problem:

An abrupt, severe headache like a thunderclap
Headache with fever, stiff neck, mental confusion, seizures, double vision, weakness, numbness or trouble speaking
Headache after a head injury, especially if the headache worsens
A chronic headache that is worse after coughing, exertion, straining or a sudden movement
New headache pain after age 50.

Migraines: a new perspective
On the other hand, here is a new hypothesis about what could cause pain and migraines. Thus, a new way to do pain management.

Before going any further, here are a few honest questions I was exposed to when I had migraines:
- Among all the options available to manage my migraines;
- Which one empowers migraineurs?
- Which one is not costly and benefits mainly migraines sufferers?
- Which one gives back migraineurs a sense of control upon their lives?

SCIENCE vs COMMON SENSE:
MIGRAINES have been known and studied for decades.
The main conclusion is this: migraine is a neurological disease:
the nervous system (CNS) is causing its own overheating. Consequently, the CNS orders the endocrinian system to produce hormones to defend against the aggression. Too much stress hormones causes nauseas.
Solution offered: Constant renewed medication. Results are variable.

Any reasonable means to prevail over migraines?
Any natural way to manage migraines?
Any efficient way to prevent them, other than medication?
If so, could that mean be explained logically?
If so, could that relief method be repeated clinically?

I, personally, had migraines. 3 to 4 a week for 10 months in 2006-2007. So, I sure know all the symptoms and how debilitating it is to be diminished by migraines: the auras, nauseas, vomiting, loss of control upon one's life, lack of energy, etc. I had succeeded to prevail over other different types of pain, myself, at home. So I kept trying to find the answers. Finally and fortunately, after months of despair, I have won my battle over that disease too.
The beauty in what I want to share to migraine sufferers is that I can explain how I succeeded. A made a method I have repeated clinically with clients, tens of times in the last 12 years.

Results showing high efficiency:
Too many peoples suffer from that terrible disease. After years of clinical work, I want to bring this new hypothesis to light. Indubitably, along with the hypothesis, comes a solution I used for more than 20 years to do self-relief, more than 10 years to help my clients to reduce, if not, totally overcome migraines.

Facts:
For instance, 85% of persons arriving to my clinic with a migraine left with none after a 90 minute-session. Repeated weekly cares kept improving the permanency of relief to all: more days in a row without migraine and less intense migraines, if any left, after 5 to 8 sessions.
A specific client with migraines for 912 days straight left without migraine after 90 minutes of care. She then had 85 hours without any sign of the disease before it came back. 5 treatments in 42 days and she was down to 13 migraines out of 45 days, instead of 45/45... Until she decided not to pursue the treatment.

We are our muscles:
Some could say that we are what we eat. I say, I am my muscles.
To experiment this earthy life we have our 5 senses and our muscles. Even the heart is a muscle. When healthy, muscles help the blood flow; when sick, they restrict it. When we see blood as the flow of life within our cells, making it go round and round. Without functioning muscles, nothing we can do. The verb to do belong to the muscular system.

Most of migraineurs report having pain in specific spots around the neck, face, head, shoulders (some) and shoulder blades (many). Many of them reporting feeling it to many of those spots at the same time. Only a few of them (2 out of tens) reporting spots of pain only around the skull.
Other fact: the majority (over 65%) of migraineurs visiting my clinic for the last 12 years, had either a teeth grinding or a clenching problem.

When I had regular migraines, I also experienced all of these symptoms.
In those days, the things I was doing, the types of physical activities, the chores, at work or at home seemed to create or erase my migraines symptoms. Way more than what I was eating. The physical activity and the way I was using my body were definitely triggering, or reversing my migraine. The corrolation seemed was obvious to me.

Holding a journal:
Keeping track of what we eat might help. But, leaning on the above paragraphs and on patients feed-back, it seems to me that keeping track of the physical actions made it easy to find solutions. It brings clear datas on creates muscular fatigue, tensions, inflammations and congestions; which create pain.

Do I suggest my clients keep a journal?
Not implicitly. Why, cause when peoples feel progressive relief through specific therapeutic actions right from the start, they prefer to focus on what works for them. They very quickly abandon the diet journal they were already keeping before knowing the approach I proposed.
Still in doubt between what type of information to keep track of in a journal?
Here are a few questions to clarify one mind :
A) If I had a knot in a muscle on the top of the shoulder, what would be more powerful to make it go? Changing my diet, or doing a pressure point for a minute at the time, a few times during the day?
B) If I had no pain from the start, what would make me hurt the quickest? Eat rubbish for a few days? Or, lift my arm and shoulder and keep them up for 10 to 20 minutes non-stop?
C) What is a human being first reaction when hurting? (when pain appears. Obviously not on an open wound).
To touch the painful area, or, to change their diet?

*** ALWAYS CONSULT A DOCTOR THAT WILL DETERMINE IF WHAT YOU SUFFER OF ARE MIGRAINES, BEFORE UNDERTAKE THE THERAPEUTIC ACTIONS PROPOSED IN THIS PROGRAM.
Apply these only if Diagnosis confirms headaches and/or migraines.

Hypothesis:

What if migraine is an exacerbation of the nervous system caused by different mechanical restrictions such as, cumulated muscular tensions, atrophies and inflammations in the shoulders-neck-head-and-face area?
All of which building a severe congestion of blood flow around the skull, thus depriving
the brain of its regular feeding of nutrients and oxygen.
In common language: what if tensed muscles were creating the "crush of the head sensation"we get during migraine crisis?
In fact, muscles, that are potential mechanical forces, when keeping a steady contraction, build tensions.
Moreover, when contracting for too long or doing too many repetitive movements with not enough rest,
fatigue inflammatory mechanism occurs.

Here is the logic behind:
76 muscles around the face, head and neck area.
One of the major need of the muscles is rest. When tired, muscles need short or long resting periods. When not getting enough resting time, they need more energy to keep going. Where does come from more energy for the muscles? Physiology: nutrients an oxygen delivered by the blood. Moreover, when contracting, muscular fibres stay tight together.
In such situation, blood gets imprisoned within and around muscular cells; stagnation of fluids. Fatigue creates even more congestion; as consequence, the tissue swallows.  Swallowing makes the inner gradient of pressure (outward) grow in a balloon like process. Then, muscular envelops (thin translucid skin) get stretched out. Micro tears and irritations of that thin layer appear as pain. If lasting long enough, nerves, that are living tissues, get irritated as well; bringing more pain.
Multiple that phenomenon to many small muscles around the head and and face, and a Giant Clamp Sensation;
skull bones joints are squeezed. Brain feels squeezed and overexcited.
The endocrinian system shoots hormones to defend against the aggression.
Migraines symptoms arise. Nauseas is the consequence at the end of the chain reaction.
Variables exist to each person: nobody has the same exact emotions;
no one builds tensions the same way, to the same spots, to the same intensity.
Combination of tensions, irritations, inflammations  and level of congestion vary.
Medication treatment results vary.

Touch and bodywork to rescue:
Touch is always the first thing that comes to mind when a trauma occurs.
It has been used by caveman as the first move to fix, to comfort, to heal. Along with herbs, plants and clay.
Why would touch help? Cause it brings comfort;, relief, human care, human connection and warmth.
Even better: imagine that the touching hand feel what is going on under the the skin;
knows HOW TO: where and how to do pressure points, massages, drainages and help to do assisted stretchings.
Pain has a strong mechanical aspect to its cause; inflammation, stagnation of fluids flow,
and lack of range of motion (mobility). To mechanical issues. its mechanical solution.
Touch is a mechanical action that could be transformed into a mechanical care.
1st good reason: drainage; helps blood to flow, in and out; regeneration capacity.
2nd) it's the best and quickest way to undo a tension.
3rd) Touch calms down the over excited nervous system.

The power of mechanic.
Pain always has a mechanical matter.
All things going on in the human body has a mechanical aspect.
Chewing, swallowing, digesting, walking, standing, swimming, climbing, breathing, coughing, sneezing, snoring,
running, playing sports, sleep apnea-ing, eyes movements, eyes lids open or close, hearing, etc.
So, keeping track of things we do; the positioning you take during that activity, the intensity (low, moderate, high), their frequency, their duration, the repetitions, etc,. brings information about the level of muscular fatigue, tensions, inflammation we create on a daily base. Thus, we can see the direct correlations between chores/actions and the fluctuation of your migraines; fluctuation of other physical discomforts like: -
Tensed shoulders, stiff neck, tight jaw, tired back, inflamed shoulder blades, elbow soreness,
achy, back, tensed face muscles, shrugging, etc...

 Pain explained by science:
- Pain is a disturbance of the Nervous System. Previous the apparition of science, NS was able to manage its own development; and to help human specie to evolve up to where we are now, by luck.
- It is suggested that PAIN IS IN YOUR BRAIN.
- Just like allergies are your immune system doing too much, never overwhelmed by too much informations.
Imagine the non-sense; An anatomic computer evolved for 100s of 1000s of years in an even more
complex humanoid body (and controls it) to conclude on itself that it is incompetent.

Strange: Science can state that brain makes mistakes, but can't tell what are the root causes of these diseases :
Chrone's disease, Alzheimer, Meniere's disease, polyneuritis, diffuse skeletal hyperostosis, pulmonary fibrosis, scoliosis, and same for Pain and Migraines, etc. (there is an infinite list of these unexplained diseases.

COMMON SENSE: what is it? It is you, thinking on your own, based upon
your rich experience of life and the common reality you have with other human beings.
The type knowledge where no one needs Laboratory Research to substitute
your capacity of thinking. I name it :
Universal Knowledge.
Here is an example: "THE BANANA TEST"
You hold one of your arms to the front, the elbow lightly bent.
That hand holds a banana at ther height of the shoulder. Your hand is relax.
Then, tell me how long is it going to take before a discomfort appears in the shoulder of the arm holding the banana?
We all know it takes only a few minutes.
Let's say it takes only 3 minutes average for most of peoples.
Then, if my job is to hold a banana , what is the best strategy I could use to last for a long time in my career?
ANSWER: 3 minutes up, one minute down, for resting. 3 minutes up, 1 down, and so on.
RESTING? Yes, cause, the initial discomfort I feel after keeping my arm up for a few minutes, is MUSCULAR FATIGUE.
So, what is the best and easiest response to fatigue? REST.
Then, if I rest it for a minute, I can hold for 3 more minutes again.
And the cycle can go on and on like that to help me prevent pain and be a Banana Holder for a long time..

IF NOT using that strategy; and holding for 7-8 minutes at the time,
what will occur? Each time, I will feel more discomfort at the end of the holding period? If not pain. Right?
If I do that days after days, months after months, what will occur?
Do we agree that CHRONIC PAIN WILL APPEAR after a few months?
Of course, cause repeating the non-sense of not listening to the simple message of discomfort that ask me to bring the arm down after a few minutes, will increase the pitch of sensation up to a pain signal.

What does that little experiment tell us?
NO MUSCLE CAN HOLD A STEADY CONTRACTION without getting tired;
Pain progressively appears if no resting time strategy is undertaken. Right?
